Tool to create images from multiple exposures, producing stunning and detailed photos with enhanced contrast.
AutoHDR is a freeware exposure adjuster app and image retoucher developed by Martin Sykes for Windows, it's straightforward and advanced.
It is capable of connecting to online services such as Facebook and Twitter.
The download has been tested by an editor here on a PC and a list of features has been compiled; see below. We've also created some screenshots of AutoHDR to illustrate the user interface and show the overall usage and features of this exposure adjusting program.
A crude way of creating HDR-like images from photographs
Despite great advances in technology, even the best camera often can't come close to capturing in a single shot the full range of light and shade visible to the human eye.
Also, unlike your eye which can adjust as it looks at each area of a scene, your camera is forced to make a single choice at the moment you press the button. It will do its best to select the most appropriate range but will often be forced to throw away (clip) either the darkest or brightest bits of the picture. The consequence is that your final photograph might turn out to be a poor representation of the scene.
While the limited range of the camera is a problem, it is its inability to adjust across the scene that is more often the cause of disappointing images. There are a number of software solutions available which try to correct this, but AutoHDR is different. AutoHDR is completely portable.
